Toners: Fact or Fad?
Toners and mists have been around for awhile but just recently have come into the light as a very important step in your skincare routine. We are here to say YES you need a toner, this isn't just a fad!
Toners are an important step in any skincare routine. It comes in right after your double cleanse and before your treatment step (serums, elixirs, oils). Your toner or mist will allow your treatment step to sink into deeper layers of your skin. So as an example let's say you struggle with acne and your treatment step is our Mara Retinol Facial Oil. After you cleanse, you spray your toner on your face, and then you apply your oil onto your skin. This allows for that retinol to get down into deeper layers of your skin where the acne is forming. It treats it at the root of the problem. Without your toner, there is a possibility that some of the oil is just sitting atop your skin. This goes for hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, argan oil, etc.
As an added bonus, toners and mists also balance your complexion and PH level, while soothing your skin and keeping it hydrated.
There are so many formulas out there and it might be hard to pick a toner. We have a multitude of great options depending on your skin type and goals!
Our lines that have toners/mists are:
- LeahLani
- Province Apothecary
- FitGlow
- Osea
- Tata Harper
- CocoKind
- One Love Organics
- GoldFaden
To highlight a few:
LeahLani's Citrus and Citrine: We looove this one for all of our dry skin people out there. Citrus and Citrine is here to hydrate, refresh, and awaken your skin's natural glow. She'll help your serums sink down while GIVING YOU THAT FREAKIN' GLOW. The citrine scent was also created to awaken your senses and start your day out on a note as bright as the Hawaiian sun. You should probably buy two, one for your counter and one for your bag to spritz whenever you want to get rid of negative energy. She's magic.
Province Apothecary Invigorating + Balancing Toner: This toner's main goal is to feed your skin nourishing botanicals and to re-balance after cleansing. The formula is alcohol-free and hydrates while controlling the appearance of oil. The two main ingredients are Rose Flower Water which is a good source of antioxidants that will help protect skin from the elements and is also super calming. The Geranium is a powerful and fragrant skin rejuvenator. We recommend this toner for all skin types but specifically oily, combo, or acne-prone skin types.
Osea's Sea Minerals Mist: Where all toners/mists are used to prep the skin for your treatment step, this one was specifically formulated with that as it's main goal. It's also super balancing and hydrating, but it's really here to help you get your treatment deep and down into your skin. Made with organic seaweed, Dead Sea salt, and aloe vera.
*** A fun tip is that you can spray your toner on your mask, or on your face to help soothe and calm your skin. In addition to causing acne, masks can really irritate your skin if worn for an extended period of time.
